christmas pixies

Now, y'all know that I love me some nisser (Danish Christmas Pixies), and in the past, I've linked to Vivian Høxbro's pattern (scroll down the page when you get there to find them).

But I stumbled across a new-to-me pattern for the cutest little Korknisser (pixies made using wine bottle corks).  Not that I have a lot of wine bottle corks lying around, but I can imagine making some of these and hanging them on the tree.

Oh, and if you're wondering?  It's not Christmas yet.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how amusing I found this, but since I did promise a few Advent-y tidbits, I suppose I need to share the elfish goodness.

Oops, I did it again

As some of you know, I have been known in the past to set up an Advent Calendar at this time of year.

With greater and lesser efficiency, depending on what's going on in life.

The Other and I built this year's blog quite a while ago, and I had the intention of getting the posts done a bit at a time.  It didn't quite work out as I'd planned, given the state of upheaval around here lately.  And I'm probably quite mad to be considering plunging ahead with it.

But I am.

So starting tomorrow morning, and throughout the Advent season, you'll be able to access the wabisabi Advent 2006 blog.  Yes, I'll be recycling some golden oldies from past years.  There are a few new ideas this year, but far fewer than I'd hoped, alas.

And just in case anyone is wondering -- no, I don't really celebrate Christmas anymore, but Advent is part of my cultural baggage, and it seems a shame to throw out something so nice just because I got annoyed with the hierarchy of the Catholic Church and declared my own personal schism.  So I think of it as a chance to share something with others, to offer up what few surprises I am capable of, and in my own small way make a ripple of niceness in a world of -- well -- you know.
