Dear Joan DeJean,
I finished The Essence of Style a few days ago.
My father was a big francophile and I was a big ignoramous about France, and it helped fill the gaps.
It occurred to me that the writing about French fashion is a page in the womens' rights movement.
Next I'm reading a new book about Abraham Lincoln called "Team of Rivals."
