Well, you can take your Christmas pudding
And put it outside to freeze
You know the nutmeg in that eggnog, now
It just about makes me sneeze
I've got something finer in my mind
And it stands miles apart
Understand, I'll be a sad young man
If I don't get a mince meat tart
(from "Mince Meat Tart" by Roy Forbes)
One of my very favourite Christmas songs is a little ditty called "Mince Meat Tart" by Canadian singer Roy Forbes.
(I'm probably aging myself when I say that I remember him when he was still known as "Bim".)
But I was absolutely delighted this evening to discover that the story of the song is available online -- and you can listen to the song via streaming audio!
So go! Knock yourselves out! And take it easy on the mince meat tarts, wouldja?
(personally, I prefer mine with a nice glass of sherry...)
